Every image is decoded, transformed and re-encoded entirely in your browser using the Canvas API and a Web Worker. Files are never uploaded, are not stored in localStorage, and are cleared from memory when you remove them or close the page.

Common issues & limitations
- Animated GIFs lose their animation — only the first frame is converted.
- Colours the GIF already discarded cannot be recovered.
- All processing happens on your device; nothing is uploaded, so very large batches are limited by your available memory.

What happens to an animated GIF?
Only the first frame is converted. PNG cannot hold an animation, so an animated GIF becomes a single still image — the tool tells you when it detects one.
Why convert a GIF to PNG at all?
GIF is limited to 256 colours and a single fully-transparent colour, which causes jagged edges. PNG supports millions of colours and smooth alpha, so a converted GIF edits and scales far better.
Will the PNG have better quality?
It will not invent colours the GIF threw away, but it stops any further loss. Convert once to PNG and every later edit stays lossless.
